About Michael M. Ponce
Michael M. Ponce is a contemporary fine artist based in Dunnellon, Florida, whose work moves between landscape, abstraction, structure, and expressive movement. Working with oils, heavy-body acrylics, mixed media, newsprint collage, and metallic mediums, she creates layered compositions distinguished by vibrant color, rich texture, atmospheric depth, and unexpected visual relationships.
Michael’s creative process is deeply intuitive. Rather than beginning each painting with a detailed sketch or predetermined plan, she approaches the blank surface with openness and allows the work to develop naturally. A color, texture, memory, observation, or emotion may become the starting point, with each mark guiding the next. Through this spontaneous process, landscapes may gradually dissolve into abstraction, while geometric forms, architectural elements, and expressive lines emerge from layers of paint and texture.
Her inspiration comes from memories, personal experiences, changing environments, natural scenery, urban structures, and the things she encounters in everyday life. Bright colors and tactile surfaces are central to her practice, allowing her to transform familiar subjects into compositions that feel energetic, atmospheric, and emotionally resonant.
Michael embraces the unusual and unexpected qualities that often emerge in her work. What may initially appear unconventional can become the very element that creates a meaningful connection with the viewer. Each painting invites individual interpretation, allowing different people to discover their own memories, emotions, and stories within the composition.
Faith is also an important part of Michael’s life and artistic journey. She considers her creativity a gift from God and remains grateful for the ability to create work that reaches and inspires others.
Through Color Memory Studio, Michael continues to explore the relationship between memory, place, color, texture, and imagination. Her work celebrates the freedom of creating without limitations and the beauty that can emerge when intuition is allowed to lead.
